The launch of Dengie’s Healthy Hooves Molasses Free has got us thinking about molasses free feeds in general, and you might be surprised to learn that there’s quite a few on offer at eFeed…

Allen & Page
Fast Fibre is a quick soak fibre provider that is barley and molasses free. It’s ideal for the good doer and horses that can become hyper even on low energy feed.

Cool & Collected is barley and molasses free, and has been created for horses in light to medium work that can become fizzy on traditional mid-range energy feeds. This mix is high fibre, low in starch and helps to promote calm and collected behaviour.

Veteran Vitality is a barley and molasses free feed designed for aging horses. It’s high fibre and soaks in just three minutes to form an easy to eat mash. It can be fed to horses at rest or those in light to medium work.

Dengie
Alfa-A Molasses Free combines chopped and pelleted alfalfa with a light soya oil coating and added herbs. It’s ideal for horses in work, those who struggle to maintain condition and those who require a low sugar and starch ration.

Hi-Fi Molasses Free blends chopped and pelleted alfalfa and straw with a light soya oil coating and added herbs. It has a lower level of digestible energy to Alfa-A Molasses Free and can be fed to horses in rest and light work and those who require a low sugar and starch ration. It can also be used as a partial hay replacer.

Healthy Hooves Molasses Free is a complete feed with nutrients, vitamins and minerals to help keep horses looking and feeling great…and also helps to keep their hooves healthy too. Rape seed oil has been used instead of molasses and, in all, Healthy Hooves Molasses Free contains just 2.5% sugar.

The Pure Feed Company
Pure Condition is a non-heating molasses free conditioning feed based on a unique blend of grass fibre and safe energy sources. It’s packed with calories and optimum levels of vitamins, minerals and amino acids to help promote condition without the excitement!

Pure Racing is a high energy molasses free fibre based feed that has the nutrients and energy needed for peak performance during racing and competition. The high energy content is achieved through the addition of soya and whole oats. It also contains a higher specification of vitamins and minerals, in addition to Profeed and Brewers yeast.

Pure Stud is molasses free and has been formulated to meet the needs of working stallions, pregnant and lactating mares and youngstock. It contains elevated levels of important vitamins and minerals.

Pure Working has been formulated for horses in medium work, and is made to a molasses free formula. Its energy comes from soya oil and super fibres such as micronised unmolassed sugar beet, giving sustained, controlled power.

Pure Easy is a molasses free low energy feed that can be fed to horses and ponies in little or light work. It’s based on grass and grass fibre with the addition of quality oat straw and a light coating of soya oil.

Northern Crop Drier

Graze-On is molasses free and dust extracted 100% natural short chop dried grass that is flash dried within hours of leaving the field to lock in nutrients and preserve colour.

As the grass emerges and hard feed drops off, it’s not uncommon for people to feed their horses pelletised balancers as a way to help ‘balance’ the diet and provide all the important vitamins, minerals and trace elements needed to help keep the horse healthy. Here, were look at some of the low calorie pellet balancer options:

Baileys Lo-Cal- as the name suggests, this nutrient dense pellet contains all the horse or pony needs for heath and well being…but with a minimal calorie content.

Spillers Lite Balancer- suitable for good doers, overweight horses and ponies and those prone to laminitis, it contains a comprehensive blend of vitamins and minerals to balance the diet with a number of added ingredients too.

TopSpec Lite Balancer- designed for horses and ponies that need their weight controlled; they are usually good-doers and may be overweight. These are the horses and ponies for whom every single calorie counts.
